I recently traveled to the Katsuta area of Hitachinaka City, Ibaraki Prefecture for an audio maintenance project.
This month has been quite busy with hotel AV work, music production projects, and audio maintenance jobs. I’m grateful to have so many opportunities, but it has certainly been a hectic schedule.
Fortunately, today’s work finished earlier than expected.
Since I had some extra time, I decided to slow down and enjoy the rest of the day.
The Importance of Rest During Busy Times
As a freelancer, I often find myself thinking:
“If I have free time, I should create something.”
“I need to keep moving forward.”
Building and creating things is important.
In fact, many of the opportunities I have today are the result of years of consistent effort and gradual progress.
At the same time, I’ve recently realized that taking breaks is just as important.
Instead of constantly pushing forward, sometimes stepping back and refreshing your mind can lead to better ideas, renewed motivation, and improved focus.
Things You Notice While Traveling
Being in a different place always changes your perspective.
While listening to music during the trip and walking around the city, I found myself thinking:
“What kind of BGM should I create next?”
“What should I write about on my blog?”
Even though these moments seem separate from my work, they often become part of the creative process.
The hotel I’m staying at also has a pleasant retro atmosphere.
While modern hotels offer convenience and efficiency, there is something special about places that carry a sense of history and nostalgia.
After such a busy month, having the chance to relax in a comfortable environment feels especially valuable.
I’ll add some photos from this trip later so you can get a better sense of the atmosphere.
Moving Forward, One Step at a Time
Currently, I’m working on several different activities:
Composition and arrangement
Karaoke track production
Sheet music creation
BGM library production
Blog management
Hotel AV operations
Audio maintenance
None of these produce immediate results.
However, I believe that small, consistent efforts eventually lead to bigger opportunities.
To continue building for the long term, it’s important not only to keep creating, but also to rest when necessary.
Today, as I spend a quiet evening in Katsuta, that’s exactly what I’ve been thinking about.
I’ll continue moving forward at my own pace tomorrow.
